Accessing Collections

Accessing Collections discusses who accesses collections and investigates ways that access can be expanded. Please note that the emphasis in this module is on in-person access. Please see the Digitizing Collections module for an in-depth treatment of digital access. This module asks the following questions:

  1. Who accesses museum and special collections and why do they do so?
  2. How can museums and libraries balance preservation of and access to fragile or sensitive collections?
  3. What steps can museums and libraries take to expand the communities that access their collections and reach new participants
